Scott Kittrell is extremely excited tt be the founding Director of Resolute Indoor Percussion.  Scott has been involved with this activity since 1993. He has taught numerous schools and independent groups through the years. He has also judged both Indoor and Outdoor. Some of the groups he has been involved with include Franklin High School in MD (1993-1996).  Chesapeake High School, 1993 – 1995. Southwest High School in North Carolina, 2000-2008. Warren County High School in VA 2017 – 2020.  Freedom High School in VA 2021. Scott is currently the Percussion Director at Sherando High School. He also was the Percussion Caption Head for Fusion Core 2023-2025. He also served as a consultant for United Percussion in 2026. Scott is excited to lay the foundation for Resolute. He currently resides in Stephens City, VA.

Henry Williams is a Virginia-based freelance percussion instructor, designer, and program coordinator with more than 20 years of experience in the pageantry arts. His performing experience began with Tarheel Sun Drum and Bugle Corps before aging out with Carolina Crown in 2003, helping the corps return to the DCI Finals. Following DCI, Henry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served from 2005–2009 as a member of The Commandant’s Own, The United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps. As a Sergeant, he served as a battery arranger, instructor, and bass line section leader while performing across the United States and internationally, including appearances on national television. After serving in the United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps, Henry changed Military Occupational Specialties, which led to his deployment to Afghanistan in 2010, supporting Marine Corps operations in Operation Enduring Freedom. Henry’s teaching and design career has impacted numerous successful scholastic and independent ensembles throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, South, and Texas. He has served as a battery coordinator, percussion director, consultant, arranger, and educator, and has been a member of the percussion staffs of several DCI World Class organizations and was even recognized with a Rookie Percussion Staff Member of the Year award. His WGI experience spans more than two decades, working with finalist independent and scholastic ensembles in roles ranging from section technician to arranger and program coordinator. Outside of the pageantry arts, Henry enjoys spending time with his family and his collection of cats and dogs. He is a proud endorsed artist with Vic Firth, Zildjian Cymbals, EVANS Drumheads, and Ludwig-Musser Percussion.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, Derique served in the United States Army as a combat artilleryman with the 3rd Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment, 18th Fires Brigade at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Derique’s marching arts journey began with the Port Arthur Memorial High School “Marching Heat.” After graduating, he joined the Prairie View A&M University “Marching Storm,” performing with the PV McFunk BOX from 2008–2013. One of the highlights of his collegiate career was performing in the 2009 Rose Parade.
In 2010, Derique entered the drum corps activity as a tenor player with Gulf Coast Sound Drum and Bugle Corps while also performing on synthesizer with Imperial Percussion Theater in WGI. In 2014, he performed on tenors with the Houston Rockets “Sonic Boom” Drumline.
Derique later taught percussion at Sharpstown High School in Houston, where his students earned numerous honors, including first-place finishes at Solo and Ensemble, Best Jazz Percussion recognition, and multiple All-State medals.
His performance career has also taken him to the international stage. Derique toured Europe with Blue Devils International and performed with the world-renowned Top Secret Drum Corps at the 2015 Basel Tattoo in Switzerland. In 2016, he served as percussion arranger for Bayou City Blues Drum and Bugle Corps, which earned a Gold rating at DCI Southeast SoundSport.
More recently, Derique performed on snare with Fusion Core during the inaugural DCI All-Age season in 2024. In 2025, he joined the Long Island Sunrisers and served as Tenor Section Leader.
Academically, Derique holds a bachelor’s degree in Music–General Basics from Prairie View A&M University and a bachelor’s degree in Music Composition for Film, Television, and Games from Berklee College of Music. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in Music Composition for Film, Television, and Games at Berklee.
Derique is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He is also a Master Mason of Jacques DeMolay Lodge No. 1390 and is affiliated with the Valley of Houston Scottish Rite, Houston Chapter and Council No. 1, and Ruthven Commandery No. 2. Additionally, he is a member of Zildjian Phi Zildjian Kartal, Inc. and a proud endorsed artist with Artifact Percussion.
As Resolute Indoor Percussion’s Battery Manager, Derique will help guide the organization’s battery program, support the instructional staff, and establish a culture rooted in discipline, musicianship, accountability, and competitive excellence. His mission is to develop performers who possess the confidence, character, and skills needed to succeed both within the marching arts and throughout their futures in music.

James comes to Resolute with 30+ years of experience as a performer, educator, and adjudicator in the marching arts, musical theater, jazz, and symphonic performance spaces. He has been an adjudicator with the National Judges Association for 25 years and an instructor for numerous DCA finalists, WGI Finalists and Medalists, DCI Open Class finalists, and successful high school marching bands. Some of the ensembles James has performed with include the Westshoremen, the Hawthorne Caballeros, the Reading Buccaneers, and the Bushwackers. Some of the units he has instructed include Liberty High School (MD), Lower Dauphin High School, Sherando High School, Chesapeake Indoor Percussion, Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps, Hawthorne Caballeros, Bushwackers and Aftermath Percussion. James currently resides in Northern Virginia, where he is a Special Education Teacher (US/VA History), Quiz Bowl Coach, and Head Tennis Coach at Mount Vernon High School.
