Dream Performing Arts Academy Announces the

Launch of LEGACY Drum and Bugle Corps

Union Township, NJ — October 2025 — Dream Performing Arts Academy is proud to announce the launch of the LEGACY Drum and Bugle Corps, taking its first steps toward becoming the newest addition to the marching musical arts activity.

The 2026 season will mark the inaugural year for LEGACY, which will debut as a SoundSport® ensemble during the Drum Corps International (DCI) summer season. The organization also intends to apply for Open Class status and looks forward to meeting all requirements during DCI’s official evaluation process.

“Our goal with LEGACY is to create a world-class educational and performance experiencethat celebrates the traditions of the marching arts while inspiring the next generation of performers,” said a representative of Dream Performing Arts Academy. “This is a chance for students and performers to be part of something meaningful from the very beginning.”

LEGACY is excited to announce its first Open House and Audition Camp, scheduled for November 29–30, 2025, in Union Township, New Jersey. This two-day event will provide an opportunity to meet the organization’s world-class educational staff, board of directors,members, and operational team.

LEGACY Drum & Bugle Corps
Announces New Assistant Director

August 28, 2025 Rutherford, NJ – LEGACY Drum & Bugle Corps and Dream Performing Arts Academy, is pleased to announce the appointment of the corps new Assistant Director for their Inaugural Season.

Tom Maiello, Executive Director of Dream Performing Arts Academy, has named Deaven Knoles of Hopkinsville, KY, to the position of Assistant Director of Legacy Drum & Bugle Corps. Deaven recently worked with the Memphis Blues Drum & Bugle Corps of Memphis, TN as the corps Administrator and is currently the Assistant Band Director at Hopkinsville High School in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Maiello added, “Deaven brings his organizational and administrative skills to Legacy at the perfect time as we are preparing to host our inaugural audition camps. Deaven’s current and past experiences will be a
major asset to the corps and our students as we continue to start the organization’s first season. We all
welcome Deaven to the Team and look forward to an incredible and memorable Inaugural season.”

Upon accepting the position, Deaven stated “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve as the
Assistant Corps Director for Legacy. What drew me to the organization was not only the deep passion
for the marching arts and education, but also their commitment to providing meaning opportunities for
young people to learn, grow and thrive through tradition. From the outset, it has been evident that
Legacy’s values align with my own passion for education and development. I am excited to embark on
the new journey with the team and contribute to Building a New Legacy.”

LEGACY Drum & Bugle Corps will begin to accept interested candidate applications for upcoming
audition camps in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Indianapolis, Tennessee and Texas, starting in November
2025. All students are encouraged to reach out via the Organization’s web site dreamtoperform.org.

Dream Performance Arts Academy announces

HYPE Winds, Director and Opening Auditions for 2024/25 Season

Rutherford, NJ August 20, 2024 – Dream Performance Art Academy, New Jersey’s premier performing arts organization, is proud to announce the next step in the organization’s vision to provide new, exciting opportunities and growth to their expanding performance ensembles.

HYPE Winds is now accepting members for the upcoming 2024/25 performance season. Please visit, dreamtoperform.org for all details and information regarding upcoming auditions and camps, which will be held in the Northern New Jersey Area, on the November 30th & December 1st weekend. HYPE Winds will provide an exciting opportunity for young people to perform and grow through performances and competition within WGI and TIA circuits.

The DPAA board of directors is proud to announce that Carlos Esquivel has been named the Director of Hype Winds for its Inaugural season. Carlos has an Incredible and Successful history of educating New Jersey’s youth and providing them access to the world of the performing arts. Carlos has been working with the Union Township Board of Education since 1998. He served on the Elizabeth High School Marching Band Visual Staff from 1990-1997 and as the Assistant Director/Visual Caption Head of the Union High School Marching Band from 1998-2021.Carlos has performed with several NJ-based drum and bugle corps. He is a founding member of the Raiders Drum and Bugle Corp, serving as the corps first Drum Major in 1991. After his years performing with the Raiders, Carlos served on the Raiders visual staff from 1992-95, 1997-1998, and once again in 2009 and 2010. He also served on the visual staff of the Stardust Indoor Color Guard from 1992-96.
